Math Classes
Math is the fundamental building block of science, technology, and engineering. Having mastery over the application of Math is critical for students to excel. STEMU offers a variety of math class options from elementary to high school. Our Math classes build a connection to the real world. We help students visualize and relate to the problem by providing relevant context. We provide engaging, relatable problems so students are driven towards the need to know and apply right formulas, rules etc. Our classes are aligned with the common core standards and focus on problem solving and building critical thinking skills. We assess your child and based on their abilities place them in the appropriate class. Our class is an hour long and held weekly. We spend the first 20 minutes on foundational skills, second 20 minutes on activities that reinforce those foundational skills, and the last 20 minutes on a specific lesson that applies current and past skills. Our lessons are differentiated into three levels of difficulty to allow students to work at their own pace and teachers to reach every student. Because of how our lessons are structured it enables us to combine grade levels together. Our Hungry Teacher lessons have been widely used and have been featured on TedEd. For a review of some of our math lessons please visit www.hungryteacher.com. Our math classes run from September through May. Students can join at anytime during the school year. Our classes are limited to 810 students per class. The monthly fee is $140.
Participation in the STEM Lab and homework help is optional. Students can drop in to these sessions as their schedule permits or need arises. Each STEM lab activity will be different.

For a better understanding of what foundational skills are covered for each grade please see the table below. Each class apply these foundational skills to solve our Hungry Teacher lessons. You can explore our lessons at www.hungryteacher.com.
